Sanda meaning “free fighting” is the Chinese combat sport using martial arts techniques combining; striking – punching and kicking, grappling – joint locking and clinching and takedowns – throws. A fighter is scored on punches, kicks with a heavier influence on throwing and takedowns. Points are also scored if an opponent is pushed out of the ring. It combines strength, agility, speed, accuracy and above all technique. Sanda techniques are taught within Choy Lee Fut Pennant Hills curriculum.
