The Choy Lee Fut's second annual Christmas party one the 12th was most certainly a day where students, si fus, friends and family could kick back, relax and welcome in the holidays with a festive spirit. The entrance to the Louie manor welcomed the guest with its perfectly warm weather, it’s very polite welcoming from the hosts and its delightful scents of barbecue which surely caused everyone drooling for a taste, some may have needed a mop. It wasn't long till others began to arrive, all bearing both different arrangements of tasty food and the spirit of the party. Conversation was very interesting with students both old and new meeting and mingling sharing stories of the pass and experiences. It wasn't long till the food started its journey to the table, this of course sent everyone crazy but lucky most of us resisted the temptation till it was officially served. The taste defiantly lived up to the looks and smell which was as expected, there was clearly no shortage with enough to feed the party breakfast lunch and tea for a couple of days. Along with the main course came the arrangement of sweets, fruit and deserts, the centre of attention was the Choy Lee fut Pennant Hill's giant cake which was cut along with a sort but sweet (no pun intended) speech from our Si Fu.
After our feasting it was time to see my brother bust some moves on the 80 kilo bag not before a few tips from Jeremy's which proved to be very useful, especially the ones about falling spiders. At first it did not seem like cam was bustin' a move on the bag but the other way around, but once accommodated for the weight and a few tips from the si fus cam showed evident progression in his form and provided ample entertainment for everyone, we have videos!
Soon it was time to settle down and watch the videos of the students performing forms and in competition displaying great discipline and stamina, the video called for much oohs and ahhs and the odd laugh as we watch Jeremy strip. It was great to see those who performed in the videos review and comment on their pass performance and for the newcomers to admire and aspire for the future to come. It was great listening to the background stories of the older students as they explained the fun and hardships of the form. It was great to see the skill, speed and discipline of fellow students at such a young age, I can only speculate at what they can do now.
Eventually the day had to come to an end with people sitting the spectacular garden chatting and admiring the fish and frogs. It was great to see some students again which I have not seen for a while and even students from the pass revisiting. I couldn't think of a better way to end training for the year and usher in the festive holidays, congrats to the Louie family for being the perfect hosts and thank you for offering your manor for the party and for providing the time and effort to produce the feast. Thank you also to all the instructors and sifu for the training I couldn’t have asked for introduction to Kung Fu and before I forget Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
